Peek-A-Boo - Shoot 4 Times In One Click

Update(10/13/2008): Fixed the expiration issue. Please re-install to use. To clear the confusion, Peek-A-Boo *is* freeware. The expiration is there as a reminder to update to the latest version.

Free CamToy from BerryCoder.
Silent yet deadly. Shoot 4 times in a silent mode. PeekABoo enable your BlackBerry camera to shoot 4 times with a silencer on so you can aim and shoot with no worry.

Peek-A-Boo
-----------
Platform: All BlackBerry Handheld
OS: 4.2 and above
Version: 0.1.2
License: Freeware
Developer: BerryCoder

OTA: http://berrycoder.com/peekaboo.jad

Get your copy while it's hot.
  1. Click http://berrycoder.com/peekaboo.jad to download.
  2. On download screen tag 'Set application permissions' and click download.
  3. Select allow key injection (Newer OS version is called "Input Simulation").
  4. Disable dial from home screen option.
  5. Press keypad 'P' from home screen and aim.
  6. Or assign Peek-A-Boo to convinience key (SureType BlackBerry user).
Caveats:
- Silencer might not work on 8x30 devices.
- The 4 times shoot will not work for BlackBerry with autofocus camera (i.e. 8900), currently we are trying to fix this problem. The silencer is still working.
- BlackBerry that is running on BES might not be able to use this application if the Key Stroke Injection Permission is blocked by the BES admin/controller

Wow, how'd you find BerryCoder blog? We just started to set it up 1-2 days ago. The link for PeekABoo and ShrinkIt will be available by the end of this week.

Thanks.

Anonymous said...

LOL. I was looking for something to help compensate for the lack of video recording on my pearl 8100. so I googled Berrycoder after I read about the shrink it app and then this link came up.

I Must say, MAN THIS APP IS AWESOME! Its a really cool gadget. Thank you SO VERY MUCH for your contribution to my crappy 8100 video-less camera phone.

I get a 907 invalid COD error when I try to download PeekABoo on my 8100. I am running 4.2.0.64, any ideas?

Anonymous said...

Try to refresh the web and then download again.

Anonymous said...

Tryed that no luck still get download failed and then error 907 invalid COD.

Anonymous said...

Does this work on CDMA BBs?

Anonymous said...

It's really a great hit!

Anonymous said...

Is there any possibility that i could get this in a jar/jad or even a cod. I don't really have the money to get on the internet with this thing so i've been uploading apps through usb.

Anonymous said...

Does not mute the noise for the CDMA Verizon 8330. It will take the 4 pictures but the sound still comes out

BerryCoder said...

We'll see if we can update it to work with 8x30 device. Thanks for trying.

Anonymous said...

Does not work for my tmobile 8100 os 4.2.1.107! Just lowers the volume on the shutter a little bit! This app disappointed me but what can I expect from it....ITS FREE!

Anonymous said...

Nothing works on my 8320. How do I uninstall this?

Anonymous said...

Uninstall:
Option>AdvanceOptions>Applications
Find the application that you want to uninstall and then Menu>Delete.

Doesn't work? Did you forget to set ApplicationPermission>KeyInjection to allow?

Anonymous said...

I set the KeyInjection correctly when installing it. The application does not show up in the list so I can't delete it. If I try to download it again to install, I get an exception saying the object already exists.

Miguel Palacios said...

I can't select allow for the KeyInjection permissions. It does not show up! I have a 8310. Any thoughts?

Anonymous said...

You can set key injection permission at:
Option>Advance Option>Application>Menu>Permission.

What OS are you using? Probably it's not compatible.

Anonymous said...

wow, great mod - doesn't mute sound on 8330 curve - if you ever get this running there are many, many people looking for it! spent the last two hours searching and found nothing yet. fingers crossed!

Anonymous said...

eta on when it will work on the 8330?

Anonymous said...

I can't see a keystroke injection option on the BlackBerry Bold (4.6 OS) to configure Peek-a-Boo. Any suggestions?

Anonymous said...

keystroke injection is now "input simulation" on newer devices

Anonymous said...

I don't understand why these "silencer" programs wont work with CDMA phones. any hope of modifying it to work with the 8x30 models???

please?

Bill said...

Using a Curve 8320 on Orange, v4.2.2.184, it doesn't mute the sound completely, just makes it about 75% quieter.

Hi!!

Why does appear a message saying "trial expired"? :S

Is not suppose to be a freeware?

Brian L said...

I also have a trial expired message. Maybe it's not freeware anymore which is fine, but I never got a trial to begin with. A fix coming soon?

Anonymous said...

I just contacted the developer. They said Peekaboo will be fixed in about 5 days.

Typo or wrong file put up for d/l?

Brian Phelps said...

Downloaded it and installed it on my Blackberry Curve, immediately upon launching it says "trial expired"

BerryCoder said...

We've fixed the trial expiration issue. Re-install to use and don't forget to set the application permission of keystroke injection to allow.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Anonymous said...

is it working with bb bold 9000?
i couldn't find the keyinjection in permission in bb 9000.

Thanks.

Anonymous said...

tried loading this on a 8300 1st gen at&t curve v4.5 os, only option for key injection is deny. the sound is significantly lower than before, but still not muted.

Anonymous said...

key injection simulation is replaced by input simulation. CMIIW *still boldless*

On the 8120 it reduces the sound by about 90%, not all the way -- still a massive improvement!

Anonymous said...

is it possible to upload jar/jad files, or COD, so people who don't have internet on their phones can download and use this application? Thanks

Anonymous said...

Any update on when there will be a version for BlackBerry Curve 8330 cdma. Hopefully soon. Also does anyone know if there is a flash player for this phone or if anyone is in the process of creating one.

Anonymous said...

great product!! thanks.

Anonymous said...

link isn't active anymore...?

Anonymous said...

I have Curve 8330, and I cannot select "allow" for "set key injection permission". os is 4.3.0.127. Is there a way around this? Its a work phone so I assume its locked-down???

BerryCoder said...

If you are running on BES, it is possible that Key Injection Permission is taken off by the BES Admin/Controller for security purpose.

Anonymous said...

I am on a BES, so I bet that is the case, thanks.

Anonymous said...

Brilliant app, thank you

Anonymous said...

Hey BerryCoder - any update that can silence the shutter on the BB Curve 8330 Smartphone yet?

Anonymous said...

great app but sadly the silencer dont work in my 8350i

Anonymous said...

I downloaded this app yesterday to my 8350i and found it does not work either. The shutter sound is not muffled, or silenced, it is as loud as it is if you open the camera from the stock camera icon. I hope this gets fixed as this feature would come in very handy during my duties at my employer.

is there a way to install Peekaboo directly from the media card? I'm using a Curve 8300

Hi ,

whenever trying to download it in my bold. it gives me the error .cod file missing.

Kindly suggest me what needs to be done.

Anonymous said...

Does not work on the Storm 9530.

Anonymous said...

Why does the application require access to user files (emails, etc) ? Please explain so that I don't see it as fishy ... Thanks

Fred said...

This app might not work with the 8350i if you have upgraded your OS to the new .128 version, same goes for BerryAnnoying

Ortonauta said...

still makes noise in my 8900

Does not work on bold OS - Applications: 4.6.0.266
Software Platform: 4.0.0.223. allowed all permissions. Unable to assign appln to "p" on keypad. appln is in downloads folder but when select only takes one picture. no options available to config. Any suggestions?

Anonymous said...

It works perfect on my BB Bold for AT&T .. THANKS! :-)

dontfret said...

Peek-a-boo works on BB Bold 9000 ATT, loaded jad OTA. One glitch which is actually a plus is it takes 3 pictures automatically, then stays in camera mode and you can zoom and recompose and take a 4th silent picture manually, after which it closes. So a 3-shot burst, then a 4th stealth shot. I do notice it disables flash, which would make sense for running silent. Nicely done, BC!!

Anonymous said...

is it expired again? =(

Henry said...

Great aplication, by is expired again :(, please urgent solution, need it

Anonymous said...

Great app, but know saying it's expired? Deleted and reinstalled on my Bold several times and still getting "expired" message....please fix.

Anonymous said...

back date before 1 july it working, come fix program thx!!

Anonymous said...

it's working again! Thanks :)

Anonymous said...

Still expired... Changing date back to June is a temporary option, but this screws up email delivery.

Anonymous said...

i redownloaded it now it works again

Anonymous said...

installed on my BB 8900 and the silencer doesn't work. it's just very quiet. you can still hear the camera click!! lame!

Anonymous said...

It works now and the click is very faint. If you use it to take a picture in a dimly lit room, the application hangs after the third picture. If the flash is set to off, it will take four pictures.

Anonymous said...

Version 1, on a bb 8320, v4.5.0.81, starting the app only takes 4 pix in a row. Can't make it just take one, can't control when it starts to take the pix, as soon as the app runs, it takes 4 pix. Hard to aim correctly.

lin said...

Hi, i don't know who you guys are, but thanks for developing such amazing softwares. They help me a lot.

By the way, about Peek-A-Boo, you are right. Its 4-time-shoot function doesn't work properly on my Curve 8320. It only shoots 3 pictures, in rare case, it shoots two times. I hope you fix it soon.

TMM said...

please help
can i download BBM 5 thru usb cable bb desktop manager ?

Anonymous said...

Now it just takes 4 pictures in a row, u can't even aim and shoot, it just does it for u automatically and quits, so can't zoom in or take a pic are the right moment!

Anonymous said...

just installed this for my tour. It is silent but it takes pictures automatically. Not a big fan of that i Would rather be able to take my own pictures, but great software if there were fixed it would be perfect.

Anonymous said...

Follow instructions 1, 2, and 3, an then assign Peek-A-Boo to camera button on the right side of your phone !!! GREAT !!! LOVE IT !!!

Anonymous said...

Is there any way to make this not take the four pictures automatically and actually let me aim?

Anonymous said...

this didn't work on my 8330. i got a message saying i would have to reset my phone in order for it to work - and i obviously didn't want to do that.

Anonymous said...

This is such a great app.
I really wish I could do some time-lapse photography on my BB 8330.
This app is the closest I have found.

Works a little flaky, sometimes no pics, sometimes 3, sometimes all 4.

Only thing better [for me] would to offer a small GUI to select how many pics and the interval in between.

Anonymous said...

I downloaded it but how do you install it?

Anonymous said...

installed on 8350i
took 4 pics but made the shutter sound each time.
