MaxMem
------------
Platform: All BlackBerry Handheld
Operating System: 4.2 And Above
Version: 0.4
License: Freeware
Developer: BerryCoder
Feature:
- MaxMem free up BlackBerry memory by deleting unused COD files that are preinstalled from the BlackBerry operating system. Currently, there are 9 remove modules in the newest MaxMem release, version 0.3.
- Up to 5MB of free memory can be realized after running MaxMem.
- Pop up approval notice for every COD file that will be deleted.
- Remove VAD (Voice Activated Dialing) - Usually activated by pressing the default assigned left convenience key. Make call by using voice recognition. The About item in the Option will also be deleted because it is located inside the VAD. BlackBerry OS and build can still be seen by pressing ALT+SHIFT(left)+H together on the keypad.
- Remove PTT (Push To Talk) - PTT is available on AT&T network only (As far as we know) and is preinstalled in AT&T BlackBerry device. So, if you are going to use the device on other networks, you can delete this feature to save more space.
- Remove T-Mo Fives - Normally found on T-Mobile device. The feature is usually consisting of icons, etc.
- Remove MDS (Mobile Data Service) - MDS is only used by BES user to push data from their BES enabled server. Delete this if you are on BIS network.
- Remove Media - Delete media like default wallpapers, music, and videos.
- Remove Default Themes - This module removes vendor themes except Dimension Zen. Note: some custom-made themes depend on vendor themes to work so don't use this option if you like to install custom-made themes.
- Remove TID - (Experimental) Delete linguistic data used by SureType, SpellCheck, etc.
- Remove Foreign Resources - (Experimental) Delete language translation.
- Remove RIM Internal Tools - Remove quincy, bug report, battery log, etc. RIM Internal Tools usually comes in package with beta operating system that RIM used to monitor the OS performance remotely. Delete this if you are not officially approved to use the beta OS.
User Guide:
- Install MaxMem from http://berrycoder.com/maxmem.jad.
- Back up BlackBerry device using desktop manager.
- Set your current theme to Dimension Zen. The purpose is to avoid any error if the current theme is accidentally deleted. Dimension Zen can’t be deleted by MaxMem.
- Run the MaxMem application (Mammoth icon).
- Click on the remove module that you want to use. Make sure you read the definition above for each module.
- Question 1 is about data base back up. Answer yes only if you have already backed up your device or you know what you are doing.
- Question 2 is about disclaimer. Answer yes if you agree.
- Question 3 will be asked for each cod file that MaxMem will delete.
- Restart after you are done.
Note:
COD files that are deleted by MaxMem can be restored by running application loader from desktop manager but you do need to install BlackBerry Handheld OS first in your computer.

Great app! This doesn't work for os 4.5 on the pearl, can you fix it?
While it's working fine on my 8130 running 4.5.0.77 is there any way to reinstall the files removed using the "Remove TID" tab? (Without a full reinstall of the OS, that is?) I misunderstood *Experimental* to mean the data it was removing was experimental when in reality it totally removed suretype from my device. At least it removed any options for me to choose suretype in any apps on my device. Other than this thanks a lot for a great little app!
David<-Assuming you already have the 8130 Device OS installed in your computer, just plug you BB to your computer and run Application Loader.
Thanks.
Maxmem has helped my bold app memory to almost 60MB, good app, and fantastic. Best free app for BlackBerry, so far.
Yup. I had it on my pc and the reinstall went fine. I take responsibility. Should have been more careful and gotten more informed about what I was removing. Lesson learned.
That said, this is indeed a great app! Free or not it rates right up there as a must have in my opinion. Thanks berrycoder!!
I runned the application on my pearl, and it seemed to remove all cod. but when i restarted i runed the application again and it was removing the same info.
is this normal?
How can I install this great application on my BB handheld? I've tried to install (update) using the uploader, but the file was not recognized.
Currently useing 8320 on 4.5.0.81
Thank you for your advice
Will the next version have support for the Blackberry Storm?
not a very cool app... just downloaded, ran all the remove tabs, then did a restart on phone and ended up with a app error 523, which according to a verizon rep means my storm is now "bricked" not sure what i did wrong, but i caution those who arent 100% sure what's being deleted!!!
hi. i've installed this software to my bb. But after i delete some code in ringtone and i restart my bb my phone never ringing anymore, only vibrating. can some one help me. thank you. here my email. if your dun mind. diddyck@gmail.com
I have 8310 having OS v4.2.2.112 and this app didnt remove anything as I got some quincy exception errors
Great app. Thanks so much. I have one question about this MaxMem. I clicked the "remove media" But the third question never popped up and I can't seem to be able to delete the preloaded pictures. I also clicked on the "remove ringtones" but it doesn't work either. Is there some other way I can remove all the preloaded ringtones and pictures?
Thanks
Awesome app! Question, what is the SPMRes_def_us_ file? It wants to delete that file when deleting foreign language.

This app pretty much sucks!!!!
I am having the same problem as the above poster on my storm. I am trying to remove the media files and ringtones, but I only get 2 questions and nothing is removed. Help?!
Fantastic application. I've used it many times and its always reliable.
I wanted to lay something to rest that im sure everyone is curious about. What happens when you erase the theme you are currently using? Nothing! When you erase applications on your blackberry, they aren't really gone until you reset your phone...
So you're still using the old theme until you reset or battery pull. When your phone turns back on it says 'o shit that theme is gone.' Then simply returns to a default theme (zen or the company theme).
Also with the themes, I noticed if you erase the dimension L, then you will no longer have support for themes like Precision L or the ones with the icons 'minimized' to the bottom of the screen. They will be on your phone, just not usable. Same goes for erasing dimension today and downloading custom 'today' themes, etc.
If you click on a tab in maxmem to remove something and then doesnt prompt you to remove anything, then I bet those items are not on your phone. It cant remove something this isnt there, right?
The only thing I couldnt get to work was how to remove the annoying factory ringtones. But now that I read about the guy who erased his audio loader, I think ill be ok.
Thank you for the great Free app.
Guys dont forget to download Opera Mini for your phone. Its the best browser I've ever used.
You can listen to your own personal radio on your blackberry with Pandora. Go to pandora.com on your factory browser.
unable to load, on my BB "not compatible"
8330, V4.5.0.160
any ideas anyone, got to get rid of Voice
Must have app!!! MaxMem took those annoying OS sample pics off of my 8350I with OS 4.5.1.313. I gained almost 5mb in that one instance alone.
Salut! John Godwin . payday loans
A note for any storm users do not remove the tid files or you will get 523 error to fix plug you BB to your PC and reload. The BB isn't bricked its just missing core software.
